Advanced Practice Nurse Practitioner
The Children’s Heart Clinic currently has a position available for a Family Practice or Acute Care Advance Practice Nurse Practitioner in our busy outpatient practice. This practitioner will work closely with our electrophysiology physicians and staff. Please contact our practice administrator, Denise Zang, at 612-813-8813 for further information.
CLINICAL RESPONSIBILITIES
Outpatient
- Performs history and physical exams for EP patients
- Dictates history and physical exams to referring physicians
- Formulates appropriate diagnosis, plan and intervention as needed
- Orders laboratory/diagnostic studies as needed
- Provides patient education
- Triages patient phone calls
- Performs/participates in add on emergent outpatient arrhythmia clinic visits
- Review Plan of Care with patients
- Work with Pediatric Arrhythmia Center (PAC) staff to supervise Stress Testing
- Review and manage the daily case load of the PAC physicians to expedite patient care as needed
Inpatient
- Rounds daily and documents progress on inpatients
- Manages patients with acute and chronic stable cardiovascular conditions related to electrophysiology and arrhythmias
- Provides patient education prior to discharge in coordination with the pediatric cardiology physicians and nurse practitioner
- Dictates discharge summaries to referring physicians
- Bills for services pursuant to provider agreements
REQUIREMENTS
Education & Licensure
- Nationally Certified Family or Acute Care Nurse Practitioner
- BSN or RN certificate from accredited program
- Current Minnesota State RN License
- Current Minnesota State APRN License
- Current DEA number
Experience
- Prefer candidates with 2+ years experience as a Nurse Practitioner in a Pediatric Cardiology or Adult Cardiology Practice predominantly working with electrophysiology and/or arrhythmia patients
- Solid understanding of cardiac and arrhythmia physiology
- 5+ years RN experience preferably in a cardiology arrhythmia or pacemaker clinic

- Must be patient-oriented team –player with flexibility to adapt to a dynamic clinical practice
- Excellent communication skills
- Enthusiasm for learning and education
