Dr. Sutton is a native of Minneapolis. After completing his BA at the University of Minnesota, he obtained an MS in environmental studies, concentrating on fresh water biology. After Medical school at the University of Minnesota, he completed a pediatric residency and a pediatric cardiology fellowship at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MN. After 6 years at the Marshfield Clinic, he returned to the Twin Cities in 1988. He joined the Children's Heart Clinic in 1993.
Dr. Sutton is board certified in pediatrics and pediatric cardiology. He is a Fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics and the American College of Cardiology. He is a member of the American Heart Association section on Cardiology in the Young. He is an Assistant Clincal Professor of Pediatrics of the University of Minnesota Medical School.
Dr. Sutton and his wife live in suburban St Paul. They have four grown adult children. He enjoys outdoor recreational sports including waterskiing, SCUBA diving, golf, and cycling.
