| Fluoroscope | An instrument for observing the internal, body organs at work. X-rays are passed through the body onto a fluorescent screen, where the shadows of the beating heart and other organs can be seen and studied. |
| Fontan Operation | Fontan operation: An open heart operation in which blood form the body is directed to the lungs without passing through the right ventricle. Useful in helping children born with only one ventricle instead of two. |
| Foramen Ovale | A small hole between the left and right upper chambers of the heart present in all babies that normally closes sometime after birth. |
