About Us
The Children's Heart Clinic was founded in 1973 by Dr. Harold Katkov, a pediatrician in Edina, Minnesota who recognized the need to start a pediatric cardiology program in the Twin Cities area.
Dr. Katkov, along with Dr. Hovald Helseth, a pediatric cardiovascular surgeon who was practicing primarily on adults at Methodist Hospital and Hennepin County Medical Center, recruited Dr. Amarjit Singh, a board certified and trained pediatric cardiologist, in 1975.
Since those beginning years, the Children's Heart Clinic has flourished into the group of pediatric cardiovascular experts it is today. Each year the Children's Heart Clinic averages well over 500 cardiac surgical cases, 300 heart catherterizations, and over 10,000 echocardiograms interpretations. With statistics like these, our patients are in expert hands.
